The Customer Who Thought My AI Was a Real Person
Nov 8, 2025
It started with a text:
“Hey man, you’re super polite. Appreciate the fast replies.”
Problem was… I wasn’t texting anyone.
My AI was.
🤖 Meet “Kyle” (aka my best employee who doesn’t exist)
“Kyle” handles all our follow-ups. He’s charming, punctual, and never forgets birthdays.
Clients love him.
Last week one of them tried to send him a Starbucks gift card.
That’s when I realized:
I had officially created a fake employee people liked more than me.
🧠 So what’s happening here?
People don’t want robots.
They want responsiveness + personality.
And when you design your AI with empathy, tone, and humor—boom—it becomes someone they trust.
AI isn’t killing connection.
It’s scaling it.
☕️ What I Learned
Tone matters more than tech. A friendly “hey there 👋” beats a perfect script.
Speed = trust. Fast replies feel like care.
People name what they love. (Half my clients now refer to “Kyle” like he’s part of payroll.)
So yeah… if you get a message from Kyle—he’s not real.
But the connection absolutely is.
